Looking to rent a home through Airbnb or VRBO? Depending on your desired destination, you may need to expand your search.
A recent article published in Court Commercial and Record explained why some Indiana cities are restricting short-term home rentals.
In Carmel, Ind. the Cheswick Place neighborhood has decided, that short-term vacation rental homes aren’t appropriate for their housing addition; which has homes ranging in price from $600,000 to $900,000.
Residents of the neighborhood told Indiana Business Journal, that they are concerned about safety, and potential for decreasing property values if the restrictions weren’t in place. However, the homeowners association of Cheswick Place does allow for long-term leasing.
Surrounding cities such as Westfield and Indianapolis are also starting to look into placing restrictions on the short-term leasing of homes through popular the sites, Airbnb and VRBO.
