Senior citizens meet Elli Q the virtual assistant

With age, the day-to-day routine can be more challenging than it once was.
Seniors need a little more help than they once did, to stay connected with family and friends, remembering to take medications, remembering to follow doctors orders or advice from a care provider.
Most seniors live with their partner or spouse, who is likely to be around the same age, some live alone because they lost their life partner, some live with family members, and others live in assisted living homes.
An Israeli-based company has come up with a solution to help meet the needs of any senior citizen, no matter their circumstance; her name is Elli Q.
Elli Q is a virtual assistant robot that interacts with senior citizens by voice command or touchscreen. Elli Q is there to help remind an elder to take their medicine, connect them to friends and family via social media or video chat, take notes for them, and many other things.
She (Elli Q) is constantly learning; she is able to learn the behavior and personality of her owner, as well as their preferences.
However, Elli Q isn’t the only robot assistant who helps senior citizens. University of Denver researchers have designed, Ryan, a companion robot who is still being developed to help those who are struggling with Alzheimer’s.
Ryan will recognize whom it interacts with and can carry on a conversation, as well as read people’s emotions through facial expressions. Ryan is helping those who have Alzheimer’s by helping keep their brain active by using games.
Senior citizens today, and in the future will be able to live a life that can be made easier with the assistance from their very own virtual assistant.
